JURASSIC WORLD: REBIRTH

My problems with this movie are obvious, cliche story telling, predictable storylines, and no character growth.

But, let me start at the beginning.

The movie gives a disposition, in text, saying something along the lines of:

Public interest in dinosaurs has waned in the last 5 years. They have mostly died off in the world, the only surviving ones reside near the equator. Human involvment/interaction is expressely FORBIDDEN.

this is fine. good disposition. HOWEVER. Ten minutes into the movie they have This conversation:

“i want you to go collect ‘x’ from dinosaurs”

“but they all died off,”

“except for the ones near the equator”

“yes but people are forbidden to go there now”

they not only beat this to death, but then they introduce a museum operator who is their “dinosaur expert”, insane in the climate this world has built. but he continues to beat to death that “no one cares about the museum anymore bc dinosaurs!!”.

the rest of the movie is a cliche, as you can imagine. the introduce children and family characters that are completely unnecessary. they crash land on the island and all the unnecessary characters die, they don’t even have the balls to kill off a single. main. character. not one. and every cliche you can imagine takes place. “dinosaur pet”, “overly convoluted girl one back story”, “indifferent teenager”, “self sacrifice, but WAIT!! he didnt actually die! he’s back!”, “lets do this mission for the people instead of the money!”, etc. too many to list honestly. those are just the big ones. And this is nit picking, but the most bitchy nit picking scene to me is when Scarlett Johannsen breaks a 3” chain by smacking it with a pipe. imagine that. imagine how many times you would have to smack a chain with a pipe until it breaks. Probably Never going to happen. granted, i predicted that scene on the car ride to the theatre though.

the opening scenes gave me some hope that this movie would be closer to the comics, and that it was. but still a let down as far as movies go. just offered me nothing new.

you can only play the same characters and dynamics 1000 times in movies 100 times in the past 3 years before it gets old. honestly I would settle for 0 but i’m not one for shitty writing.

when i heard about a jurassic park reboot, i was hoping for an R rating, i was hoping for some REAL comic rep, i was hoping for some REAL originality.

majorly upsetting overall.

5/10
